How GramRate news is produced
GramRate’s news section is an automated archive of the gold market, written from our own recorded prices. This page explains exactly how each article is made, so you can judge how far to rely on it.
What we publish, and when
- Daily archive notes (
/news/gold-prices-YYYY-MM-DD/) — one per trading day, published shortly after midnight UTC for the previous day. No note is published for days without a trading session (Saturdays, or days whose recorded range is zero). - Market-move notes — when spot gold moves at least 0.15% beyond its trailing 24-hour high or low, at most once per direction per day.
- Monthly archives (
/gold-price/history/YYYY/MM/) — every recorded daily close of a month in one table.
Where the numbers come from
Spot gold (XAU/USD) is read every minute from gold-api.com and stored in our own archive. A day’s open, high, low and close are the first, highest, lowest and last recorded readings of that UTC day. Per-gram karat prices use the published formula: close ÷ 31.1034768 × fineness (24K = 0.999). Currency conversions use the exchange rates held at publication time and are labelled as such; monthly archives are shown in US dollars only, because historical exchange rates are not stored.
How the text is written
Article text is drafted automatically — by an AI language model (Google Gemini, with Cloudflare Workers AI as a backup) or, when neither passes our checks, by a fixed template. Each article states which method produced it. The writer receives only the recorded figures for that day and is instructed to report them without explaining causes, predicting prices or giving advice.
Before publication, every draft is checked automatically: any number that does not appear in the recorded data, and a list of filler phrases, cause the draft to be rejected in favour of the next method. Tables and charts on each article are rendered directly from the archive, not from the AI text.
Articles are published without individual human review before they go live. That is why the figures behind every article are listed on the page, so they can be checked against this methodology.
Corrections
If an article contains an error, we correct it in place and add a dated Correction note at the top explaining what changed; the article’s modification date is updated accordingly. An article that cannot be corrected meaningfully is withdrawn from search indexing rather than silently rewritten. Report an error to hello@gramrate.com.
